The department ofBotany was established as one of the core faculties of the college since its inception 1954, offering Biological Sciences at pre-university level (PUC). It was developed by the experienced contributions of stalwarts and department of Botany has been functioning as one of the strong arms of Biology section in this college. At Present Botany is offered at undergraduate level under UGC Courses.

      Legacy of Department : Department was nurtured by the eminent and experienced faculty members under the guidance of the Head of Department. Dr.Poorna Chandra Rao, was the first Head of the department succeeded by Dr.Padma Raghuraj, Sri M.V .Ramana rao, Dr.N.V.N.Charuyulu and Dr. K.Satya Mohan who successfully handed over the headship to present Smt.V.Sunitha.

      Objectives:
1. To disseminate Knowledge, understanding and enhance the theoretical as well as practical applications of plant sciences.
2.To accentuate the minds of future generations to save paper, save trees, in turn save nature.

      To provide beyond the class room experiences regularly conducts various activities to expose the students to diverse areas of their subjects.

Department of Zoology

      Brief introduction of department:The Department of Zoology came into existence since the inception of the college as part of Biology for Intermediate (old) and was aised to the First degree (Science) level in 1955 as the main subject with Botany and Chemistry as subsidiaries. With the introduction of the 3-year degree course in 1957, Zoology was offered as main subject along with Botany & Chemistry.In the subsequent 6 decades of growth and expansion, the department has diversified teaching in tune with the needs of the region in a commendable manner. Smt. SurendraKumari was the first head of the department. Ever since, it has been functioning with the able guidance of successive heads, Smt. ShakuntalaJanardhan, Smt. MithileshKumari, Dr. Shyamala Devi,Sri. P. Mohan Rao and at presently Dr. G. Babu Rao is heading the department. The Department of Zoology has highly qualified, dedicated and experienced teaching faculty.

      Objectives:
1• To disseminate detail knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Zoology.
2• To provide applied and advanced innovative teaching methodology and application to promising graduates interested in knowledge related to human and animal life.
3• To produce Science graduates who will contribute to the growth of economies and welfare of developing nation through careers in research and teaching.
4• To conserve animal resources for future generations.

Department of Chemistry

      Profile:The Department of Chemistry (UG) is one of the oldest departments of twin cities. It was established along with the college in the year 1954. Since then it has been conducive to produce the finest professionals in the field of chemistry. It was one of the biggest departments of chemistry under Osmania University. The courses offered are B. Sc (M. P. C) and B. Sc (B. Z. C). By 2014 there were 4 faculty members. The department is now comprised of 2 effective faculty members, known for their creative efforts in imparting knowledge to students. At present 150 students are being given an opportunity to experience the world of chemistry. The department is equipped with digital classroom to give a new experience to the students in the process of learning chemistry. The laboratories are spacious and well-maintained. They are equipped with best and sufficient laboratory apparatus, spectrophotometers, pH meters and weighing (Simple + Electronic) balances to offer an opportunity to experience the domain of chemistry.

      Objectives: i. To equip the students with the skills required to pursue their higher studies.
ii. To Provide advanced knowledge and practical experience in chemistry.
iii. To encourage the students to pursue research in the field of chemistry.

Department of Mathematics

      Mathematics was introduced at degree level in the year 1959, with an aim to develop skills and knowledge and understanding of all aspects of mathematics i.e Reasoning, Analyzing etc Objective To develop conceptual knowledge and analyzing power. To create higher level of Intellectual abilities.

Department of physics

      Physics department was started right from the inception of the college in1954. With the introduction of 3 year degree course in 1957, physics was offered as optional subject along with Mathematics and Chemistry. This subject is offered at undergraduate level only. Sri M.V Chalapathi Rao was the first head of the Department. The successive heads of the department who served the institution were Sri k. Chandra Reddy, Sri K Gopala Krishna Murthy,Sri.Shiva Kumar and the present incumbent Sri P. KARTHIK.

Department of English

      English Since its inception, the Department of English has been extending greater contribution to the college in the area of English Language Learning initiatives on par with the latest teaching methodologies and other student-centered learning activities and to impart language skills both written and spoken. To equip the students with necessary listening skills and to make the students proficient in communicating his / her thoughts.

Department of Hindi

      Department of Hindi is one of the oldest departments, functioning right from the inception of the college. The Department of Hindi offers quality education to all the students, who opted Hindi as second language. The students are highly motivated to energize themselves to enrich in their excellent communication skill. The well stocked library and the hard work of highly qualified faculty have enabled the department to maintain a high standard in Hindi teaching. The department has the singular distinction of having very high success rates in the University examinations. With the fullest co-operation of the faculty, the department enhances its highest spirit by making the students participate in various events conducted.

Department of Physical Education

      Department of Physical Education is one of the oldest departments, functioning right from the inception of the college. It operates with various sportive activities related to curricular and Extra curricular.It continues its services with NCC and NSS activities.
OBJECTIVES: 1. To encourage students with spirictual knowledge in games/sports/others.
2. To improve or elicitate power of physical activities.

Department of B.Sc(Computers)

      Department of Computer Science is one of the oldest departments, functioning right from 1995. The course gives technical knowledge to the students, that offeres to both M.P.C & M.P.Cs students.

OBJECTIVES: 1. To gain knowledge in technology.
2. To elicitate creatitivity in the world of computers.

Department of MCA

      Brief introduction of Department:The Department of MCA came into existence in the year 2000. This course was Approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Affiliated to Osmania University.

Initial student student approval is 30 and was incresed to 40 in the year 2004. The course is structured into 3 years and 2 semesters in each year.

Department of MCA is having highly qualified, dedicated and experienced teaching faculty.And having well eqipped computer labs with latest computer systems,other infrastructural facilities

      Objectives:
1• To gain skills in computer Applications.
2• To empower richness in technology.

 

Department of M.Sc.

      M.Sc was one of the science subjects introduced at the inception of the college in 1954 with a mission of imparting quality education in Life Sciences to students. During the last decades the department has grown enormously in strength and diversity. The main objective of the department is to improve the quality of education and experimental study among the students.

      To provide beyond the class room experiences regularly conducts various activities to expose the students to diverse areas of their subjects. Taking the student on Botanical tours,organized workshops, essay writing, Elocution, Quiz competions etc
